I made it to the Front Page!

August 31, 2009
Check this one off the list of "Goals for my Etsy Shop".
I made it to the front page on Etsy! *happy dance*

This firey tee is still in my shop so come pick it up! It looks fantastic in person too. And it's organic, with no paint and no ink. SWEET!

Hopfully this will be the first of many front pagers!

More stuff! Halloween and more!

August 28, 2009
It's almost September so naturally we are thinking about Halloween, right?

Ok, maybe it's just me. I wanted to get a start on some monster-ific designs for my shop! Here is the first: "Little Monster"
I can't wait to make one of these for my baby! I might even put this on a cute orange tee for my 3 year old. He truly can be a little monster :)

Next up is the "Hoo Me?" Owl tee on Golden yellow. I only have one but I like the color so much I might have to order me some more!

This Helicopter applique onesie is one-of-a-kind. I wanted to sell this design in my shop but it took so much time to cut and sew that I only wanted to make one. Since I can't double my prices to make up for the time spent, I have to say farewell to this cute chopper and give someone the chance to buy a true one-of-a-kind onesie. It is size 12 months so come pick it up in my shop.

This sweet little girly owl sports a red ginham bow. Making her extra cuddly cute! I also have this design available sans bow in my shop.
I was experimenting with colors and found that the red turns gold when I use the dye remover! Gold! So, here is a "Do the Robot" tee in red! Even though I designed this robot for little boys, I can't help hoping he ends up on one of my shirts someday :)
So instead of the boy's robot, I put this adorable girl robot on a women's scoop neck tee. This shirt has fun written all over it!
And last, but certainly not least is "Small Fry". My little small fry is the model here. This is a black onesie with a small order of fries on the front. Stinkin' cute if you ask me (but I made it so I'm a bit biased). Thanks for lookin'

The next chapter in our story. . .

August 8, 2009
This is a giant leap forward for Cantaloupe Corner! I am officially a screenprinter! Woo Hoo!
One by one I am going to be putting all of my original designs onto silkscreens. I will still use the same dye remover products and process but screenprinting will make it possible to create any design my little heart desires! I love creative freedom! Also, it is a billion times faster than stencilling.
I made 7 tees this morning in the time it takes me to do one stencilled tee! I can't wait to get all of my screens finished.
I also have new designs that haven't been seen yet by anyone but me! I can't wait to get to work on my shop next week. I have tons of new stuff to add!
I love this job.

Dazed!

Update on my very first booth:
I had so much fun doing Eagar Daze with my dad. It was a bit awkward selling kids and women's tees along side my dad who sold manly, politically incorrect bullet belt buckles. I had a great time though. I didn't sell as much as I had anticipated but I got my feet wet and now I'm ready to conquer the craft show world!

Here's the money shot of little ol' me, chillin' in my booth, sporting my new favorite tee (and my favorite bullet belt buckle.) I worked over time to make 72 tees for Eagar Daze! Hand-stencilling every single one. Needless to say, I was totally exhausted.
The best part by far was this:
A genuine, bonafide, old west shootout! Here are the bandits and the law-men. My dear ol' dad is the second from the left in the brown cowboy hat. He got to play the marshall and save yours truly from an unruly varmint named Black River Bart. I got robbed, shot at and taken hostage!! Busy day.
(They only told me I'd get robbed, the rest was all improvised, surprise!) Bullet blanks are a heck of a lot louder and scarier up close! We are already planning out new ideas for next years Eagar Daze celebration. Maybe I'll buy a cowboy hat so I can look like one of the old west bandits. . . or maybe not.

How do you write a cursive letter "r"?

August 4, 2009
Eagar Daze was a blast! I'll do an update with pictures soon. My little brother's wedding is this weekend and things here have been. . . well. . . a bit crazy. Mad in fact.
It was great to take a trip to the mountains. Time just seems to slow down up there. Aaaahhh, it makes me relaxed just thinking about it.
While I was running around like a crazy person last week I decided to make a funky sign for my Eagar Daze booth. Here is the start of it. I leaf printed it with eucalyptus leaves straight off my back yard tree. It looked pretty stinkin' cool! Then, I tried to be the artist that I obviously am not and hand paint the words "Cantaloupe Corner" over my leaf prints. It looked awful! A kindergartener could have painted it better! I didn't realize that I have no idea how to make a semi-decent looking cursive "r" (even thought there is an r at the end of my name, Jenifer. Pathetic.) So, I trashed my masterpiece and had to start at square one. Oh well, at least I got a pic of my original. I'll post a pic of the finished sign next time.
